You are going to LOVE it!

I just finished reading this book and all I can say is WOW. What a raw, pure account of a young girl who rose above the adversity of her childhood and went on to become an inspiration to so many! There are so many take-aways in this book and it has truly motivated me to be the very best version of myself. Christy shared so many "wise words and difficult truths" in her book and while reading It I felt like I was in a deep conversation with a good friend! Thank you Christy for your transparency and willingness to share your most private and personal stories with us to prove we can achieve anything we set our minds to. Get ready for a soft kick in the pants to go out there and be all that you were intended to be in this life! I highly recommend you get a copy for yourself and all of the women in your life!

"LOL" is not only a courageous expression and sharing of Dreiling's difficult past, but is a means to look at your own struggle and find the deeper meaning in what you may have gone through. Dreiling is able to transform her hardship into a catalyst to become a presence of love in the world, and she truly exemplifies the saying "Living by Example".

I found this book to not only be inspiring in the open and vulnerable truth she was able to show about her life, but also illuminating in the words she expressed to allow you to live your own life unfiltered.

The book made me look at the perceptions I have of my life with my past, others, and myself. The context of this book is deep you could read it over and over, and you would see something different a learn something more.

BUY THIS BOOK!!!

This book is absolutely incredible, I am a personal trainer that focuses mainly on strength training. My flexibility and balance is not that great. This book really helps you in a fun way. Not only is it separated into different categories based on what you want to work out that day, it also gives you a sequence of yoga poses that you can do to get the best results depending on what your body goals are. On top of that, it also gives you the option to do poses in an easier fashion, not all of us can do the splits... This book knows that :-)

An excellent little book. If you've been doing yoga for a while you may not learn anything new from this - but the organization into sections - the handy style tips and the FABULOUS cartoon illustrations - are inspiring - I particularly like the one of doing Chaturanga Dandasana while sipping a milkshake .. and Urdva Mukha Svanasan will puffing on a cigarette. Also its small so travel-sized. A perfect gift for any yogini friend with a sense of humour!

About the Author
Marc Paulsen's background began with building construction and expanded to include fine art dealing, interior design, airplane sales and real estate development. Mr. Paulsen has served on management assignments ranging from trade show exhibitions of national scope and museum consultant to project manager for high-rise office construction and large sawmill machinery installations. He has traveled numerous countries and, while serving with the U.S. Armed Forces in Germany, wrote many articles on tourism. Marc's interest in the famed Medjool date came about as a fluke. While enjoying desert sunshine in southern Arizona, he stopped to take photos of men working high in date palm treetops. A palm grove worker invited him to come into the grove to film the palms close-up. This book is the result of that simple original effort to take an unusual and interesting photograph. At that invitation, he began to learn of the Medjool's unique and surprising history and of the astounding amount of labor required to produce a crop of this legendary date. This book, then, is to let the world know this date's extraordinary story of survival against great odds and the details of how much human persistence and effort go into producing this delicious exotic gem of fruit.

Insight into the Growing of A Delicacy

Dates are the oldest cultivated tree crop, with records and pictures dating back over 6,000 years and fossil remains going back millions of years.

Medjool dates are at the top of the date "taste hierarchy." In 1927 most of the few Medjool date trees (reserved for Mid-Eastern royalty) were diseased - luckily two Americans brought 11 offshoots from a healthy grove to the U.S., and these have served as the origin of all U.S. Medjool dates. In addition, offshoots of these resulting American trees were later sent back to the Mid-East to restart the ravaged population there.

Medjool palm trees require 10-15 years to reach full production of 100-200 lbs./tree. In the U.S. they grow best in the high temperatures and low humidity of the Southwest - as long as adequate irrigation is also available. Growing Mejools is a labor-intensive process, requiring climbing each tree as many as 18 times/year.

Medjools can be grown from seeds, but the result is usually unsatisfactory because the result is unlike the original tree and usually inferior. Thus, "offshoots" that spring up at the bottom of trees at least 3-5 years old are used. The Medjool date tree bears fruit for as long as 100 years, though yields decline after about 50 years.

Medjool trees are planted 30 feet apart from each other to allow adequate sunlight for each tree. Other cultivating and harvesting steps include dethorning new branches in early January and trapping pocket gophers (damage the roots). Pollen is later harvested from male trees, and then applied manually (shaking or blowing) onto female trees in late March and early April. Female trees are the only fruit producers. (Typical ratio of 1 male for 49 female trees.)

Later, dramatic thinning of the fruit is required to allow those remaining to grow larger; during the thinning process additional pollination also takes place. After the fruit develop, in June the trees are "ringed" (special wire rings spread the fruit clusters, allowing better all-round exposure to the sun) and bagged (protects from birds). In August the bag bottoms are closed to capture dates that fall off. September-October then brings several rounds of harvesting - the fruit do not all ripen at once; less valuable types of dates are harvested all at once.

All the recipes sound great

I'm the kind of person who flips through recipe books saying, "Oh my goodness! Who in their right mind would make that?" Even when I do settle on a recipe that sounds good, I tend to add ingredients, or change the proportions to suit myself. Amazingly, ALL the recipes in this little book sound great. I haven't tried them all yet, but the ones I have were indeed delicious, without my souping them up.

As for the stories and poems, the first time I picked up the cookbook, I simply had to read through them all. They add a wonderful personal touch to the recipes. It's like cooking with grandma -- listening to her tales while whipping up something wonderful.

A Potpourri of tastes

Halaal Food, Fun and Laughter by Linda, D. Delgado is a recipe book that is bound to become a favourite in every kitchen. Recipes gathered from aroung the world come together in a collection that creates a veritable taste explosion. The recipes were easy to follow and successful all round. The poetry and foodie anecdotes added a nice touch to the collection making it a rather unique recipe book. On the down side, I found the lack of pictures to be a bit disappointing. But hey, at that price, I'm not going to complain.

Great Variety, Great Taste, Fun Extras

This is a very nice book to own. I keep mine in the kitchen for easy access to many great recipes. What is so wonderful about this book, is that it contains a variety of food, some American style recipes, as well as recipes from other countries and nationalities. There is also an entertainment factor to this collection. Poetry, short annecdotes and fun blurbs abound in this book! I absolutely enjoyed it!

The Giving Book

The Giving Book truly has the potential of opening up your or any other child's door to a lifetime of joyous, selfless giving. The book can be used as a fun, interactive workbook to help gently teach your child the most valuable lessons in life - those of Caring, Compassion and Giving to one another and to the earth. If there is to be a "New Age" on earth it will only happen if people start caring for and helping each other. This book is an excellent start for your child!

For the Mom and Dad, I highly recommend The Golden Rule Workbook: A Manual for the New Millennium (available in eBook also) which is far more comprehensive in it's teachings and self-help techniques to really help you tackle the hard stuff, thus becoming a more loving, selfless parent who can teach their children and all others, by example, the great importance of caring, kindness and compassion.

Giving Young Children a Way to Help in a Daunting World

Ms. Sabin's book succeeds in engaging the young person in significant and personally rewarding steps that show each child they can be a force in this world and make change happen for the good. The personalization and "ownership" of the child's charitable efforts that The Giving Book provides makes this realization a lasting one. If the child looks at their Giving Book after a few years, this "ownership" comes back to encourage and reward the child for continuing.

Parents can appreciate the focal point and regrounding the Giving Book provides. Sometimes it is difficult to encourage a child to think of charitable works when surrounded by 24/7 news of "tragedies and misfortunes". The Giving Book is gentle and firm support for the good impluses and desires of the child to make a difference in the world and to be happy about it. Even when (shudder) a parent doesn't have the time to attend to each step of their good works, they can record them and share them later.

Ms. Sabin has given a gift to us all, and hopefully her good deed and those of the many "owners" of her book will multiply over the years. I heartily recommend this book for your child or as a gift to children's groups (scouts, clubs, church youth programs) to inspire and reward the best in our kids.

The pictures are cool and all but you couldn't tell what the actual inside pages of the calendar were like.The actual monthly calendars are small and not enough space to write that much on. I suppose I will keep it and just deal with it,it's always a hassle sending anything back and then you usually get ripped off by having to pay the postage to send it back..Need to show the inside of the actual pages we will be using so we can make a better decision..

Author John Giduck has a Bachelor’s Degree from Penn State and a law degree from the University of Denver. He also earned a Master’s Degree in International Affairs, specializing in Russian studies, from the University of Colorado, which included completion of the Russian Culture and Language Program at St. Petersburg State University in Russia. He has traveled extensively throughout Russia and the former Soviet Union, training with Russia’s elite Special Forces units for more than 10 years. Terror At Beslan is his first book.

Very Well Written Book

I have read this book numerous times since my purchase. It is a really good read. The author is very informative, giving a thorough background of the history and very detailed accounts of what this day held for Russian history. I have lent this book out to several people, who have enjoyed this read. The author is very well written and educated on the subject matter.

Get Started Not Scammed

As I enter back into the acting/modeling industry after 10+ years, I have found this book to be a real gem that covers ever-possible aspect that you could imagine, very thorough. A must read for every age and every level. I not only highly recommend the book, but I'd also like to recommend Lar Park Lincoln as an acting coach. She knows her stuff and she also genuinely cares! I am so happy to have connected with her!!!

This book is loaded with the right stuff. A must read book of anyone interested and in acting. Don't waste your hard earned money on roads to nowhere. Lar Park Lincoln know the ropes in this business. So don't get scammed on false promises. She maps it out all for you in a interesting easy reading form. She's on the top of her game in the information department. I highly recommend this book.
