About the Author
The author and principle investigator, CHARLES E. HANSEN formally started work on the Technology of Love Project in 1983. In prior years he worked as a systems analyst and economic consultant specializing in economic development and deployment of computerized systems and new technologies for industry and government agencies. While a graduate student at George Washington University, he also worked as a consultant to the University's Program for Policy Studies in Science and Technology studying how major new technologies are developed and deployed under a National Science foundation contract-grant. Later he headed up the Economic and Technology Development Division of International Business Services. He served as a consultant to President Reagan's Grace Commission on Cost Control (Defense). He currently continues research on this project as director of Corsense Institute-and also directs marketing for a tent manufacturing firm in Colorado. The author is a graduate of the University of Colorado where he studied engineering and business; he holds an MBA degree from Wright State University in Ohio. He studied at George Washington University in the doctoral program for Economics from 1971 to 1977. He served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era.

A Professional Assesment of The Technology of Love

I am extremely impressed with "The Technology of Love" because it advances a new and unique way of defining the subject of Love. In this form it's a extremely powerful and practical way of understanding and applying the principals of Love to family, community, and business.

What's unique is that Love is now scientifically defined as 30 universal actionable human traits (10 positive, 10 neutral, and 10 negative) called vectors. As vectors they can then be mathematically manipulated in systems analysis forms. Extensive references to traditions, values, rules, principals, etc in areas of business, religion, geopolitics, law, religion, sociology, and warfare add clarity to the discussion. Well indexed, it becomes an excellent reference book.

Further broken down, Love as defined by Hansen can be optimized by such concepts as "Intent to Please", or as a process model like a "Boyd OODA Loop", or mathematically as energy, efficiency, entropy.

Based upon my engineering experience this book really breaks new scientific ground. As a result I now have expanded analytical skills needed to understanding issues in such diverse professional fields as: organizational successes/failures, sales/marketing, winning strategies and warfare, good vs bad government policy, etc. Now we have a better idea as to why Love has been so resilient and universal over time among the religions and cultures of the world.

For the scientific community the book contains the essencials for academic institutions to formulate follow-on funded research, to explore, and to analyze more complicated sociological human systems.

Truely an exceptional and comprehensive piece of research ready to yield results.

This book is a must read for anyone who has an interest in science and the teachings of Jesus. Mr. Hansen presents a remarkable and profound new perspective that intertwines science and mathematics with an in depth study of "love's vectors" or actions and the teachings of Jesus, breaking through the separation of religion and science once and for all! This technical and intellectual work would be appropriate for a college course, study group or educated readers.

An incredible must read -- This book has given us a huge business advantage

Knowing that Love is a defined science, and having learned about the vectors that cause Love to happen has made me feel like I have a ridiculously unfair advantage in achieving success as a self employed business owner. Sometimes I even feel bad for those who try and compete with us; as they don't really stand a chance without knowing our "secret."

But rather than keep this "secret" to ourselves, we used the vectors themselves as a guideline and chose to share how Love works with many people who would have been competitors. This caused something amazing to happen--instead of working against each other, businesses that may have competed in the past are now able to work together to help each other achieve more success than we would have been able to achieve on our own.

Like I said before: A ridiculously unfair advantage!

The Good Grief Club

As a bereaved parent I've read many books about losing a child, but I highly recommend The Good Grief Club. This book is an honest account of what this "new" life is like for parents who have experienced a loss. At times the words on the page mirrored things that I have felt and thought, which I found reassuring. With her words, Monica Novak finds a way to convey to readers all of the complicated thoughts and emotions that go along with losing a child, while also instilling a sense of hope that one day the pain will begin to subside. I would recommend this book to anyone who has experienced the heartache of pregnancy loss, still birth or neonatal death, or to anyone who would like to better understand the grueling process of grief and how to help those that have experienced the loss of a child.

This book is a good one. This book reminds me of the grief group that I go to (Sharing Parents of Sacramento) and the women that I have met there. These stories and book's about women who have lost a baby...conception through birth are always hard to read, but they are beneficial to those of us who are griefing the death of our babies. I heard those dreaded words on Feb. 23, 2009...."I'm so sorry, but we can't find a heartbeat!!" I lost my daughter that day, Makena Marie Elizabeth Anderson, and it's a day to day challenge. My heart goes out to all of you that need this book, we will never forget our babies.

The "Good Grief Club" is a honest and raw account of lives that have been touched by the unimaginable loss of their babies. It is wonderfully written and threads seven women's lives together. As a reader you are captivated by their stories and as a bereaved parent you are thrust into their pain, sorrow, grief and eventually, hope. It was very easy to connect with Mrs. Novak and I found myself sharing and relating to the darkness, heartache and tears and then one day, like them, seeing a light, a ray of hope and new joy again.

I began writing this recipe collection approximately 20 years ago when I became Muslim. I didn’t have the intention then to write a book, but after all these years, I decided it would be a great help for those who would like to broaden their Ramadan culinary experience. Since my family is from diverse backgrounds, you will see influences from Indian cuisine, Egyptian cuisine and traditional Middle Eastern. In addition, I have made many Muslim friends during that time and have eaten at many homes during Ramadan. You may see some Albanian influence, Turkish, Moroccan, Pakistani, Libyan and others. You will see how an "iftar" (or breakfast-breaking the fast) is observed and there are many delicious ideas for what to serve. May you have a blessed Ramadan.

An international culinary tour

This is an exceptional international recipe book. Food is such an integral part of everyday life. Family life in particular often revolves around the kitchen, especially during the holidays. This book introduces the reader to the traditional Muslim holiday of Ramadan by way of a diverse culinary tour. In addition to the traditional Middle Eastern and Egyptian recipes there are influences of Indian and Pakistani cuisine as well as the more mediterranean flavor of the Albanian and Turkish cuisine. The recipes are fun to read through with a brief introduction in the narrative style of James Beard's books and they are so easy to follow. I am enjoying my way through this book, as are my friends and family who enjoy eating the dishes.

a good travel companion

Woram's book will be appreciated by anyone who has a special interest in the Galapagos, but would not be a good choice for a more general reader. He traces the history of the most invasive, non-endemic species - human beings - in an entertaining and informative way. He is a bit too enamored of his own investigative skills and so spends a great deal of time unraveling errors, some of them rather minor, in the Galapagos literature - again, of interest especially to experts and buffs. All in all, he is an excellent travel companion if you read him as your boat heads from Genovesa to Fernandina, as I did.

Most books about the Galapagos Islands are concerned with their natural history but relatively few fully discuss the human history of the islands. This book belongs to the latter catagory and presents an in depth review of how people have interacted with the islands. It is rich with detailed activities of various rogues, knaves, hermits, whalers, tyrants, murderers, and misguided settlers who attempted to establish colonies on these islands.

The Galapagos archipelago was discovered in 1535 during the voyage of the Bishop of Panama, Fray Tomas de Berlanga who was on his way to investigate the activities of conquistadors in Peru. His ship was becalmed and drifted westward due to the ocean currents. On March 10th,1535 an island was sighted and a party went ashore in search of fresh water. Although he did not name the island he described the fauna in a letter to the King of Spain. Known variously as Las Enchantadas, the Archapelago de Ecuador and the Archepalago de Colon, they first appeared on a map as the Galapagos in 1570. The archipelago was claimed by Ecuador in 1832 and the first colony, which consisted of convicts and political prisoners, was established on the island of Floreana.

The most famous visit to the Galapagos was Charles Darwin's during the voyage of HMS Beagle in 1835 which is thoroughly covered in this book. The effects of his monumental conclusions following a five week study of the islands are presented in detail.

The islands of the archipelago are arid with the exception of Froreana where fresh water is available. The history of this island is particularly interesting. The book includes information about the whaler's post office barrel, a slave rebellion, the bizarre activities of an Irish hermit, and the mysterious disappearance of the Baroness vo Wagner de Bosquet. In addition, the activities of a variety of other visitors are described. I was fascinated to learn of the efforts of several groups of Norwegians to establish permanent settlements. In spite of their Teutonic stubornness all such activities failed.

I highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in the history of the Galapagos.

We all want to go and a lucky few have been. Most books on the Galapagos are either about Darwin's famous finches or about the beautiful flora and fauna. Not this time. This Galapagos historian writes of the "human history" of the islands. This incredible book reads like the most captivating novel. Out of its pages spill pirates, a famous writer, a baroness and her lovers, miscellaneous adventurers, mysterious travelers and so much more. If you have even a passing interest in these enchanted islands, this book will leave you wanting more.

The book is beautifully designed. On each double-page spread, text appears in a narrow section on the left against a glowing earth-pink background; remaining space is filled with an acrylic painting saturated with dazzling desert light. Each spread is marked with solid borders, as though matted. Coe's dry-brush technique reveals the texture of the canvas in ways that make it look like grainy sand. Marvelous book for a child

I just loved Here is the Southwestern Desert, but what's more important is that my twenty-one month old daughter can't get enough of it. We read it to her at least once a day, because if we don't she protests quite audibly. The story is simple and insightful, and the art is just amazing. There are so many things that she picks out of each painting. She loves the animals and flowers. All the desert flora and fauna in the book are represented in a way that she can truly enjoy.

"Here is the Southwestern Desert" is a great read-aloud to go with any theme unit on the Sonoran Desert. I liked it because it was a nice contrast with the straight reporting text of the Pathways main theme book "Cactus Hotel". "Here is the Southwestern Desert" is so poetic, yet it delivers realistic art and nonfiction facts on the sonoran desert habitat. My class LOVED the book!

This isn't your typical how to cook food textbook. This is more like a "this is how you get it done" life guide. Great humor, life view, and cooking pointers make this an excellent read! If you're not into the metal/rock scene lifestyle, still take notice of the fantastic recipes and quality instructions. If you ignore the recipes because of the style of the book, you're gonna miss out!

Amish Meadow Liquid Smoke, 4 fl ozThis is one of the best vegan cookzines ever. It is not some gourmet cookbook that assumes that everbody has the resources and access to ingredients as the Jones's. It is simply a collection of recipes from like minded folks that have been tested and trued to be delicous with the author's amazing suggestions on music. If you are the least bit intriqued you won't be dissapointed. I've been using these recipes for years.

This is one of the oddest cookbooks I've ever seen, but I really like it. If you will be offended by the author's references to Black Metal and Satan and the like, pass it up. Otherwise, I recommend it. The "Chili of Holy Terror" is the best vegan chili I've ever made.

Dr. S(tacey) A(lan) Teruya's life has been frustrating, generous and rewarding, filled with equal amounts of pride and shame, glory and failure, sadness and happiness. In other words, his is just as anyone else's. He also has a story or two to tell, and hopes that sharing them will be of use.

His background and personal history are unusual, if not unique. Born and raised in Hawaii, he longed first for a career in serious music, then in Egyptian and Near Eastern Archaeology, settling instead for earning a living in information technology. He recently left the Southern California aerospace and defense industry in which he served as an internal knowledge consultant and manager. He has since moved on to nonprofit causes and opportunities.

Dr. Teruya's academic achievements reflect his eclecticism and diversity, with an undergraduate degree in Art History, a master's in Computer Science, and a doctorate in Education. Somewhere along the way, he learned about living by teaching flying and snow skiing, fixing old cars, playing piano, guitar and banjo, kayaking and working as a whitewater raft trip guide.

Dr. Teruya is quoted as saying that what he prizes and respects most are direct and informed answers to life's most profound questions. An intensely private and meditative person, he lives at Venice Beach, California. His latest book, Heavenbound: What Happens When We Die, is scheduled for publication by North Venice Books in early 2006.

I read the book expecting a lot of philosopy and religion and was surprised that it was sane and logical. The best way i can describe it is it is for someone who wonders how life works out, good things and bad, in science and psychology. It is very readable, though. It is very good when you really want answers and not just a lot of talk and religion.

About the Author
Mr. Nasim Yousaf began his career as a Pilot Officer in the Pakistan Air Force. He left the cherished profession and became an exporter and a leader in the business community in Pakistan. The author is a founding member of the Board of Directors that established The Pakistan Commercial Exporters of Towels Association (PCETA), one of the largest trade associations in Pakistan. He also held other important positions in the PCETA, including Vice Chairman (North Zone), Member of the Central Executive Committee, and Member of the Textile Quota Committee (TQC) of the PCETA. As part of the TQC, he and other members disbursed quota to exporters of PCETA. Mr. Yousaf also represented the business community in front of various levels of the Government of Pakistan, including the ministerial level, to discuss and resolve trade issues. The author has traveled extensively around the world, which according to him, has been a great source of learning and has broadened his vision on global issues. Since his move to the USA, he has continued to be involved in international trade. Apart from this, Mr. Yousaf spends a considerable amount of time on research and writing books. In addition to his books on the subject of import and export, he has also written a biography on two very important personalities of Pakistan, Allama Mashriqi and Dr. Akhtar Hameed Khan, whose lives are inspirations for him. Presently, Mr. Yousaf is working on additional books on trade as well as on Allama Mashriqi’s role in the independence of the Indian subcontinent. Carolyn Ann Lemon was born on October 3, 1936 in Gloucester, Virginia. When she was just three months old her family moved up North to Brooklyn, New York. After attending Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn and graduating in three and a half years, Carolyn attended City College of New York where she majored in Education. She became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in 1955.

After graduating from City College in 1958, Carolyn began teaching while simultaneously working on her Master s degree in Education at Brooklyn College, which she was awarded in 1963. Carolyn worked as a educator in Brooklyn and Queens, New York as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, special education reading teacher, reading coordinator for special education for a school district, until retiring in 1993, after a 35 year career in education, from her position as assistant to the superintendent of School District 16, the district in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn in which she had been educated and had worked for many years.

Carolyn has written a number of teacher training manuals for the New York City Board of Education. The Playbook is her first book for the general public.

Must Have for Parents

This book is a must have for parents who want to lure their children away from tv and computer screens and encourage good, old fashioned, creative FUN. The simple coding system tells you if games are for outdoor, indoor or travel fun. We travel a lot as a family, and I found it really useful in keeping my kids entertained, engaged and interacting without fighting on our last trip.
