It's more for intermediate and advanced learners than for beginners.

Normally one sees a grammer or vocabulary book and thinks "Borrrring!" Let me tell you:

"SAT Practice" is the most funny, interesting and useful language and grammer book that I've ever seen! (In our house it is read just for fun.)

In each chapter a silly and clever story includes short definitions of the advanced words in the margins, and then a glossary section. A quiz follows to check for comprehension. Every chapter then has a section discussing a difficult area of the English language, with the most crystal-clear examples that I've found anywhere. Following is our families' favorite part -- the "Projects" section. These are interesting, clever, silly ... well, here's an example:

"Devise, define, and describe three parlor games, annoying practical jokes, or decorative mobiles involving paper clips, drier lint, feathers, and/or linguini. Use lists, making sure all constructs are parallel."

Even if you plan never to take the SAT, this book is worth having around for the fun -- and learning -- of it. I wish that I could buy one for each of my friends and family members!

I now am so excited for my trip to Sedona. I have a feeling that this first experience at the vortices will be the first of many visits. The author not only provides clear directions for finding them but also makes suggestions as to what to do when you get there. For those who have just started down a spiritual path, these ideas may seem rather weird. The author does suggest reading some books by some great spiritual teachers- I,d like to add another as perhaps the very first book for someone who is just beginning to wonder about the true nature of our existence and that would be Allen Watts, The Tabu of Knowing Who You Are.

What a perfect gift for a child who will be part of a couple's most important day. This is beautifully written and helps the young boy understand his role. It also gives a wonderful, positive message to the young ring bearer about himself. The Flower Girl book does the same for the special young girl who will be in the wedding.

This is where Van Paassen actively became interested in Jewish affairs after interviewing a Rabbi from New York who had just returned from Mandatory Palestine. From this point on, Van Paassen took a great personal interest in the issues of Palestine and the plight of European Jewry. In 1925, he became the foreign correspondent for the New York Evening World, which placed him in Paris. The stage was being set for World War Two and the rise of fascism in Germany and Italy from which Van Paassen passionately reported.    In 1931, the New York Evening World stopped publishing; Van Paassen remained in France and wrote for The Globe and its competitor the Toronto Star. In 1933, Van Paassen, a fluent German speaker, reported on the Nazis and courageously exposed the doctrines and policies of Hitler's fascist regime. His news reports greatly upset the Nazis, and the Toronto Star became known as atrocity propaganda. The newspaper was banned from Germany and Van Paassen was expelled but not before he was imprisoned by the Nazis for several weeks, which included some physical blows to Van Paassen's own person.    Van Paassen spent quite some time in Palestine and wrote extensively for his newspapers and wrote many books and articles on the subject. When one reads this book today, one notices how profound and ironic it is, that the times which Van Paassen describes of his generation are now repeating themselves, the only differences are the players' names.

Shortly after World War One, Van Paassen started his career as a journalist at The Globe, a Canadian newspaper in Toronto. His next job as a journalist was at the great southern liberal newspaper, The Atlanta Constitution. The History no one recalls.

An excellent book that help to fill in the missing gaps of the Middle East saga. It helps put conflicting accounts into perspective. Written by a man who was there on the spot, it provides us with so much insight into the current conflict and how we got where we are today.It was written way back then .. we live with the results of decisions made during his time of writing.

This book was written and published during WW2. It is focused on the Jewish settlement of the Holy Land and the contributions of the Jewish population to the modernization of the area and to the British war efforts. The war stories in chapter 4 are amazing. I did not read about most of them before. They are rarely repored and mentioned.

Much of what is presented by Van Paassen is familiar to me. The details, specifics, notes and backup provide even more documentation of what transpired in the 20s, 30s, early 40s and continues today. About the Author
Norman Jordan is an internationally published poet. His poetry has been anthologized in forty-two books of poetry, including THE POETRY OF THE NEGRO,(1970 Edition), BLACK FIRE, MAKE A JOYFUL SOUND: Poems for Children by African-American Poets, IN SEARCH OF COLOR EVERYWHERE: A Collection of African-American Poetry and WILD SWEET NOTES: Fifty Years of West Virginia Poetry 1950-1999. He was a featured poet in “Creative Classroom,” a magazine published by the Children’s Television Workshop for the famous Sesame Street TV show. In May of the year 2000 Mr. Jordan released his own poetry CD, The Poet the Dreamer. In 2004 he had the honor of being selected for inclusion on the first official literary map of West Virginia. Norman is a member of the Griot Collective Poetry Workshop of Jackson, Tennessee and in 2008 he became an official member of the Affrilachian Poets of Lexington, Kentucky.

As the Idaho Statesman’s weekly gardening columnist for 20 years, author Margaret Lauterbach has advised Treasure Valley gardeners on everything from sowing to composting to coping with the Valley’s soils, pests, diseases and unique climate. Lauterbach, who has gardened in Boise for more than 40 years, has been a master gardener and an advanced master gardener in Ada County, under the tutelage of Susan Bell, horticulture agent at the University of Idaho Extension. Lauterbach was raised in Colorado, where the scarcity and value of water were ingrained along with an appreciation for farmers. Her first gardening experiences were working with her grandmothers, one in a town garden and the other on a farm near Fort Morgan, Colo. When she and her husband, Dr. Charles Lauterbach, moved to Boise, they bought a home on a large lot so she could have an abundant garden. Dr. Lauterbach taught theater arts at Boise State University until his retirement. Margaret Lauterbach has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Colorado-Boulder and a master’s degree in psychology from Central Washington State University.

Blood tests beyond the reference range

Functional analysis of blood tests goes far beyond looking at reference ranges (which are commonly mistaken for optimal ranges.) However aspects of blood chemistry which are normal, compared with abnormalities in other aspects may lead to an understanding of impaired immunological or endocrine function. Weatherby clearly describes how to analyze blood chemistry and CBC tests in this book. If you deal with blood test analysis, read this book.

OUTSTANDING! TRULY A READ YOU WILL NOT FORGET!

As a reviewer I have become in tuned to the heartbeat of many authors. I can sense the excitement of the thrill in a suspense read, the fear in a murder read, the faith in a Christian read as they pen their words. A true writer does not write from the mind, but from the heart. That is what I found in this outstanding work by, Stoney Greywolf Bowers.

Poetry can be tricky to write and to read. The words of a poet tell a story, paint a picture, create an emotion within us, or they leave us dry and wanting. Within the pages of this wonderful collection, "Reflection from the Wilderness," author, Stoney Greywolf Bowers, breaths the very depth of his heart and life into the reader. Through his words the life of a cowboy, the life of the Native American, the life of the wilderness becomes a living force that awakens excitement of the reality of a special time in our world. A time that needs to be remembered, cherished, and honored.

All of the words within this book touched me in one way or another, everyone unique and brimming with words that will set your heart afire, and several touched my very Spirit. A Fighting Cheyenne Never Dies, left me with the words, forgive us. Colorado Wilderness, left me with a sense of pride at the beauty and majesty of our land, and Jake and The Snake, caused me to smile. However, Cowboy Ride, my favorite, brought tears to my eyes and a prayer that the cowboy never dies. Few works have stirred such emotions within me.

I believe to me, this collection voices the heart cry of our heritage. Part of America slowly disappearing that needs to be captured and remembered. It is the greatness of a nation, the fortitude of men, animals, land and the struggle to survive. This work is more than a collection of poetry, or one man's memories, it is a work of art and history. Truly a book that I am proud to give my highest recommendation to and urge you to read this book, enjoy it over and over again, and pass it down from generation to generation. A true keepsake. It is an honor to have read this book. I truly say thank you to our talented author.

Reflections from the Wilderness

I must admit that SCOTT BOWERS, aka: Stoney Greywolf is an excellent storyteller. He has poetic tones and knows how to weave great tales. Unfortunately, SCOTT BOWERS also with purpose has made a false claim of Native American ancestry.I know this for a fact because unfortunately, he is an uncle by blood but not by choice. In fact, his former publisher dropped him because he was unable to support that claim with documentation or proof. Hence this claim is in fact a lie. My grandparents always did say, "We don't know where he gets such ideas from and we wished Scott would learn to tell the truth". Because Scott is in the West and the majority of the family is in the East, he figured his claim would go unnoticed by family and no one in the West, including his former publisher would be none the wiser. Fortunately, Scott's past caught up with him and including this lie. I'm not taking anything away from his charitable works through the years with different groups and organizations nor his life out West. That he definitely has done. What his family dislikes are these delusional facts of his. In fact, when his former publisher whom, by the way is a very nice, considerate and professional person asked Scott for documentation and gave him ample time to produce, as I said, he was unable to do so and his lie caught up with him. Now,as a matter of record, I still retain these communications between the former publisher and myself. When I asked Scott and his publisher asked Scott which side of the family is his claim, he still could not answer. Why you ask? It is a lie. I have our genealogy on four sides without naming names on a public board. Scott has always been artistic and a great storyteller but, it's just that.
The reader needs to be aware that Scott's native American claim are false and very misleading.
