About the Author
Eugene Glader grew up on a farm near Cambridge, MN and attended a one room school through the fifth grade. He is a graduate of Cambridge H.S. Bethel College, (AA), Wheaton College, (BA), University of Minnesota, (MA) and the University Iowa, (Ph.D.) He served in the US Army two years, taught and coached in high schools for two years, and at Bethel College for 20 years. While owning Cascade Lodge for almost 23 years he served on several resort association boards, was a president of the Minnesota Resort Ass. and was selected as the Resorter of the Year by the association in in 1990. In 2004 Gene and his wife, Laurene, sold the lodge and moved to Grand Marais, MN. where he completed the writing of this book.

Very Interesting Read

I joined a book club at work and this was our first read. I thoroughly enjoyed the discussion because it helped me to see I was not alone in my networking challenges.
Several of the women in the meeting had the same fears as I did and after discussing them we challenged ourselves even further. I also realized that in my daily life I'm already networking.

The information stored between the covers of this book can be used time and time again. No matter where you are in your career or personal life you will benefit from this guide. Discovering that women network differently than men was a little surprising. What was more surprising was finding out what networking is and is not.

It's simply all about solid, proven networking skills, with some caveats on how things might work a bit differently for the estrogen enhanced crowd, and how to turn those differences into assets rather than liabilities. Some of it is standard fare for anyone honing their networking skills; introductions, name tags, follow up protocols. But the book also includes extras like who picks up the lunch tab for a networking meeting between opposite gender networkers, what to do when you are the only woman in the room at a networking event (even more fun than the elephant in the living room!), etc. An easy read and good advice with Thom and Marny - each proven, successful networking professionals -- providing different perspectives from both sides of the gender gap -- and bridging the gap while doing it.Some Assembly Required: A Networking Guide for Women

As a young girl, I would sit under a large old oak tree and dream about what the big world was like beyond the small farm in East Tennessee where I grew up. I wondered what that world would someday offer me. Little did I know that the choices I made in life would destroy my own dreams. Most of us think that our brokenness and disappointments are the end of our hope. Even when I turned to the church, there seemed to be no relief for my hopelessness. About the Author
In 1957 I was born the sixth child on a farm in rural East Tennessee to very poor parents, neither of which drove a car or ventured very far from home. Our house had no insulation so that ice formed on the inside during the winter and many nights we ate a spoonful of flour to keep from having hunger pains. The only water came from a spring several hundred yards away, and education was not a priority. Unfortunately, the poverty in my life opened the door for me to seek any way out. I thought a man could provide the escape and was into my third marriage before I truly learned to depend on the Lord and use the wisdom He had given me over the years to find satisfaction and joy. I have had careers as a runway model, makeup artist and special events coordinator, and counter manager for two large international makeup companies. But my most rewarding career has been as a mother. In addition to finding personal freedom, I learned how to help my three children rise out of their desperate situations headed toward lives of addictions and abuse. They, too, have found keys to a successful life. Until recently I was a real estate agent selling in a traditional neighborhood development. As a result of selling more than 40 homes in a year, in 2006 I was honored by induction into ACES circle of excellence by the Marketing and Sales Institute. I have left the real estate industry and am pursuing the establishment of a Health Spa that will allow clients to focus on both their physical and emotional health in the journey toward wholeness. My husband and I are the co-founders of Living In Freedom Everyday (LIFE, Inc.), which is a teaching/counseling ministry focused on relationship, parenting issues, and leadership training. It is in the same small town of Madisonville, Tennessee I had escaped through marriage at age 18. The ministry also birthed The Church of LIFE, which we serve as Senior Ministers.

Anyone Can Make It

Often we hear the statement, "If they can make it, anyone can make it." This autobiographical book fulfills that statement. It is an encouragement to press forward and overcome whatever early life issues may seem to hold one back. While it is spiritually based, it certainly is not "churchy" or religious. In addition, Mrs. Brown accomplishes her task of honoring her father who taught her numerous important lessons in life despite the fact he could not read and lived as a poor farmer.

I found the book to be easily readable and not excessively redundant which so many self-help ...

In my review of Heather Jacobsen’s Gluten Free guidance let me, in full disclosure, state that I do not believe that I am gluten intolerant. This is of course a subjective statement because indeed I am not ailment free – no one is. That said, I read the book on behalf of someone close to me that does appear to suffer gluten intolerance. I found the book to be easily readable and not excessively redundant which so many self-help books tend to be. I learned much and found it to be a well researched and useful manual to someone who has, or may have gluten or other digestive intolerances.

Under Fact #1, Ms. Jacobsen states that if you eliminate gluten from your diet than you can reintroduce gluten at a later date to see if your body still reacts poorly. I was hoping that at some point in the book she would have done this herself and thereby given some hope that the intolerance can be, if not eliminated, at least ameliorated. Under Fact #4 she gives hope for those who are dairy intolerant that they may at some point consider bringing dairy back into their lives. This too was not advanced.

I liked 7 Surprising Facts You Should Know If You Want to Achieve Dietary Success and I would unreservedly recommend it to anyone who has, or may have, digestive issues. I would, however, have liked it better if it included an end game with some examples of partial resolution.

I enjoyed the personal touch in the text

An enjoyably informative and concise read, and it's author's style so down to earth. Heather's 7 surprising facts are compiled in just 50 undaunting pages; both credible and concise. I enjoyed the personal touch in the text. I felt the author's earnest attempt at explaining, through her personal experience and by sharing innumerable research findings compiled over a span of many years, how a gluten free lifestyle may not be the sole dietary shift necessary to actually mitigate, alleviate and even help cure your body of diet related illness and disease. I personally have experimented with eating dairy, grain and sugar free, strictly for sports performance and specific physique goals. I now, however, am further inspired to continue eating not only gluten free, but Paleo, for complete internal healing. A must read for those new to the gluten-free scene, or those who are seasoned and accustomed, or like myself who have dabbled, lost commitment, and who a ready to get back to this way of nourishing.

Even after years of being gluten-free, I still struggle with my recovery from a misdiagnosed autoimmune disease that was secretly just a gluten intolerance. PMP Success Series worked for me...

This placemat was a great addition to my studies. I was able to use it in my cube at work, and in study at the end right before the test. It is color coordinated by knowledge area which was very helpful in understanding how everything fit together. On the back side was a lot of items that are very helpful to memorize for the exam. It also worked well with the volume 2 placemat as that showed the next level of detail and how the inputs, tools and outputs worked together. The results speak for themselves.....169/200 PMP!

From the Author
Originally written for English-speaking new residents of Argentina and available solely in that country, Food and Drink in Argentina did exceptionally well in its market. "It’s time we told American tourists about the culinary and vinous delights of Argentina. It’s so different from Mexico and other South American travel experiences most people expect. Their entire heritage is different; besides the native Inca and Guaraní, Argentinians are descended from European and Middle Eastern immigrants as well. Argentina is a country like no other," says co-author Dick Tripp.

About the Author
Dereck Foster was born in Buenos Aires in 1931 and except for the period 1953-1959 spent in Spain, South Africa and other countries outside of Argentina, has lived there all of his life. While in Spain, he visited his first winery and his passion for food and wine was born. He has always been a journalist specializing in gastronomy and travel, which has allowed him to visit 36 countries on five continents. He has been the Buenos Aires Herald's Food and Wine columnist since 1967 and lately its Food and Wine editor. Dereck lectures widely and for eleven years lectured on food and drink at the Salvador university in Buenos Aires.

Richard Tripp, or Dick as he is more commonly called, was born in North Carolina in 1940. As an active duty officer in the US Navy, he traveled extensively and continued to do so after his retirement in 1988 when he moved to Brussels with his wife, a member of the US Foreign Service, and other posts in Madrid and Buenos Aires. Dick became interested in food and cooking when he was young and his interest in wine started to develop in 1967 during four years of duty in Northern California, close to the California wine centers.

Excellent Resource

Many people see France, Italy and Asia as culinary meccas of the world. But there is a wonderful cuisine waiting to be discovered. The food of Argentina!

As a food writer, I see a multitude of cookbooks and guides to cuisines all the time. But one of the areas that is lacking, is Argentina. With an Argentine mother, and having had the wonderful opportunity to have lived in Argentina, I can declare that this book is excellent and an invaluable resource of food and drink in Argentina.

Not only does this guide explain food terms and etiquette, but also which restaurants are good (even for special diets) as well as information on Argentina's wines.

There are some fantastic photos included too!

What I found to be wonderful were the recipes included for traditional Argentina fare, as well as guides to meat cuts and labeling in Argentina, the United States, England as well as France!

If you are going to eat in Argentina, you will need this book.

This novel was intended to be a five thousand-word exercise, preparing me to return to several pre-existing manuscripts after a delay. Sacred Vow had more to tell and believed its story was important. Several times the story grew beyond my intended limit. I objected, eager to return to my recently neglected writings. Eventually I was lured into following.

Weeks later, hiking with a friend, I told him of some of the views unfolding in this new book. After listening attentively, he said, "Do you really believe this is the way it works?" We continued deeper into the woods, and I gave his question thought. I was a little surprised at the answer I finally realized. I said, "Until I saw this information in the story, I can't say that I had any such ideas. But now, yes, I think this is a truth." So I followed Sacred Vow, became familiar with the people and their stories, learned from their teachings, and traveled where they led. Just when I was willing to abandon all my earlier tales for this new adventure, Sacred Vow gently brought me back to where it had commandeered me . . . at the opening of the book I had been working on before its arrival.

About the Author
From CG Walters: Personal lore is a dubious drink, for the flavor changes each time you bring it to your lips. Given enough aging-from my own experience-the product is more fiction than fact-but what fact is not ripe for becoming fiction?-I find that if I scrutinize any moment's ramble of my past, the story often breaks down into a mix of dreams I've had, past conversation, and maybe something I read or heard. A person might say that something such as daydream is not real, and certainly not biographical. I would have to disagree. How can one come to an understanding of the tangible without the ethereal?-Personal myth. In dream, I found myself looking next door, up at the 2nd story sleeping porch of an older home on a tree-lined Southern street. There I saw a circle of nine basinets. In each basinet rested a white swan, head tucked down. After taking a moment to consider my location and situation, I returned my attention to the porch to find the swans had become nine brightly dressed old women wearing wide-brimmed Sunday sun hats (my muses, of course), standing side by side, smiling down on me and gaily talking among themselves. a deeply provocative and healing book

"Sacred Vow" achieves what the author sets out to do in his fiction: momentarily bring the reader's conscious "defenses" down to gently expand the reader's concepts of self, reality, the world, the universe, Love.

It also achieves what few metaphysical books immediately achieve: explain to the reader (even someone new to metaphysical concepts) in an engaging, entertaining yet thought-provoking way certain metaphysical concepts like parallel lives and realities, without making the reader feel like being lectured, and in a way that makes the concepts easy to grasp at first read.

This is also the best romance book I've ever read so far: Love without the sex (!) but with a more intimate and intense lovemaking still, passion developed and grown to fulfillment in ways not many people have considered, with the real work and struggle of true loving as the real romance of it all.

I cried as I read the book, and wept quietly when I finished it, but the tears were healing and transformative.

New experience

'Sacred Vow' is the first novel I've read with a metaphysical theme. I'd never thought very deeply about possible parallel universes or the ability to view other lives through dreams, channeling, etc. so this book was unique for this reader. Can soul mates perhaps find each other though they live worlds apart? Is love strong enough to help them re-connect?

When Ian realizes that a kindred spirit and his true love is reaching out to him from another world, he goes to great lengths to reach back. Even though he risks his own health at one point and perhaps his life, Ian searches to find a way to be with his beloved Katerina. This book was a wonderful new experience and a completely different type of novel for me. It was also a pleasure meeting C.G. Walters in person at a local book signing.

Mark Sandford, one of John's children, has an MDiv in counseling from Denver Theological Seminary and is spiritual director of Elijah House. He ministers to individuals and couples in all areas of inner healing and deliverance and teaches at Elijah House schools and seminars. Mark and his wife, Maureen, have three children and live in Post Falls, Idaho.

Incredible wisdom!

This book deeply impacted my life! I have never before read a book about the value of waiting and how God can truly use it. We don't talk enough about that today. Society is more about getting everything fast and now. We see waiting as wastep or useless time. I have recently had to go through a few different seasons of waiting and through this book, I now see that there was great purpose for that time. I feel everyone should read this book.
