Great Outing Ideas

Mr. Foster's new book provides great outdoor outing ideas for me and my family. And when visitors ask for recommendations on where to visit in Northern CA, I'll pull options from his book. It includes the iconic Norcal destinations I've often visited such as Sequoia National Park, however, it provides more details about what to see and the historical significance of these places.

Northern California Travel, The Best Options

This book is a "must have" for the traveler to Northern California and is the perfect bed table reading material for every Californian guest room. Engagingly written by a master wordsmith, it is a work in which you are both captivated and educated by the author who has done extensive research on his obviously favorite subject. Not only does it tell you what sites you should be sure to see; it also gives you directions to little-known places that provide unusual views and photographic opportunities. Using a deft sense of humor, historic local characters are introduced; succulent dining is recommended and special overnight resting places are mentioned. This is, indeed, the ultimate travel necessity to have in your hand when you explore Northern California.

Very disappointing

This guide is virtually useless to me. Very disorganized and difficult to locate specific content. Very limited listing of restaurants/accommodations, w some sections not listing any at all (at least that I could find) and no explanations of why those listed are recommended. I bought this guide specifically to plan a trip to visit some of the many wineries throughout the area covered. Sadly, there is almost no mention of wineries/vineyards and once again, almost no info for those few that do show up. There are no photos, and worst of all, not even any maps. For an out-of-state visitor, I don't see how this guide provides much, if any, help.
