I am a native of Milwaukee, WI, but I most of my professional life was spent in Chicago. I now live in South Florida with my "significant brutha." It was the Florida sun, the sway of the palm trees and the rhythm of the ocean that helped to inspire me to set the record "straight" once and for all. I hope the book gives hope to every man going through "the struggle" and inspires others to stop and think.

just finished reading this great book a long overdue read for me and I enjoyed it and it spoke to what I have always thought. Some of it would be political incorrect to say but to me it is what I have felt about being a sissy and how we need to man up in more ways than one. It has been a thorn in my side to see these young men and older men to diss their masculinity and/or let their orientation hold them back. I have to admit that it almost got me because I worked and played with some of these brothers and eventually took on some of their mannerisms. I had to remove myself out of this environment to regain me, reclaim the masculinity I was slowly loosing and redefine my spirituality. I'm not dissing fem men or some of the peeps I hanged with in the past. I just know that wasn't me; fem was not right for me but I took some of it on to fit in and yes it was fun sometimes but it wasn't me. I see a lot of other brothers like me who have done it too we came out just being our natural masculine self but then twist it up a bit to fit in but that's neither here nor there now. I said I had to redefine my spirituality too because I was once one of those brothers who would sit up in church knowing what was coming out of that preachers mouth was wrong and just let what he said beat up my spirit and my self esteem all the while saying amen. Today that has changed and not only since I learn the truth that matched what my spirit was trying to tell me have been a blessing to me but to others who I come in contact with. I feel Mr. Setfrey and I are kindred spirits in a sense because I feel we share the same views on masculinity, sexuality, and spirituality. As a matter of fact the book he wrote is one I had hope to have written but it is a blessing he has put it out and given our young brothas like us and younger and older a chance to find a book that can speak to them and give them some guidance. Thanks Benn for a well written book that is informative and entertaining it was a confirmation for me and a blessing. I'm a grad student now and working on my own business.

Enlightening for Parents of Gay Offsprings

After reading Benn's book, I am much more aware of what young gay children are going through at the hands of our churches, the society at large, and (God forbids) at home! As an African American woman, I have endured oppression as long as I can remember by our society, our church, and our men. I have been too busy thinking about my own pain to give much thought to the pain of our young (and old) gay persons in our society. Many of us believe that homosexuals choose to be gay,but that race and gender is not a choice, so in effect, gay people bring their pain upon themselves. Benn straightens us all out here and gives us a lot to think about when he tells us, Living gay is a choice, but "Being gay" is not a choice. Benn you have opened my eyes, ears and heart with your very provocative book. This book is a "must read" for all of us, gay, straight, old and young alike, but more importantly, for parents who are ignorant as I was, to many of the challenges that young gay people are up against on a daily basis brought on by the forces in our society that we whole dear, i.e. church, family, community and our government.

About the Author
R. Craig Hogan, Ph.D., is an accomplished writing trainer with 35 years of experience. He is currently the director of The Business Writing Center, a professional school that trains business writers through workshops and online courses. He has been a professor of business communications at Illinois State University, professor of writing at the University of Pittsburgh, and professor of writing at Allegheny County College. He spent much of his early career in business, writing and managing writers. He founded a company that wrote computer documentation for software developers, was general partner in a firm writing manuals for government agencies, and was manager of communications in a company. He has consulted with dozens of companies to help them improve the quality of employee writing. Dr. Hogan has published articles about teaching writing in College Composition and Communication, English Education, OUPID Newsletter, Proceedings of the National Conference on College Composition and Communication, Proceedings of the Midwest Regional Conference on English in the Two-Year College, and Research in the Teaching of English. He has written three books and dozens of courses and workshop materials that train writers and the trainers of writers.

needs more refining

Even though the publisher clearly describes the limitations of the kindle formating when it comes to indentations, tables etc., this book in its current format should not be sold regardless of the price. I can let go a couple glitches here and there, but when the information the author tries to relay to the reader becomes puzzling by all the guessing one must do in order to finish the words/sentences that happen to get chopped during the conversion process, I say "this book needs to get some more work done".

I found this book comprehensive. It improves your writing step by step. R.Craig practises what is preached in the book. The way the book is organised and styled is exactly what the essence of the book is. So there are 296 pages of examples for anyone who is keen and serious about following.

The tone and pace is moderate, and R.Craig does not oversimplify that explicit business writing is something where you could just read a few pages of examples. R.Craig stresses the need to be perseverance.

There is a small section on the use of grammar and punctuation. As the book is focused on explicit business writing, R.Craig has just done that, being focus on the key term "explicit business writing".

Better than my teacher!

Reading this book I realized that I shouldn't have pay for my English business writing course, because the book helped me more than my teacher. The book explain very well and give you great advice how to write a business letter or even an e-mail. It is a good resource to improve your writting abilities.

This book will change (safe) your life....

My dentist here on Maui, Stephen Hubert, DDS, gave me this book. I have been under his care for over 2 years and he has changed (saved) my life by removing the mercury from my mouth and eliminating the spirochetosis and greatly improving my moderately diseased, bleeding, and inflamed gums that have plagued me for over 30 years. The proof of this overlooked cure for gum disease is my newly acquired health. I no longer need to go into the regular dentist 2x per year to get a scolding and a scraping with no explanation of what and why, and to hear that the condition always seemed to get worse and I will need surgery. This incredible discovery of the bacteria-cardio health relationship is also astounding and under-reported. There is an important section of the author's research on root canals as well. My dentist scraped a plaque sample and placed it under the microscope and I observed these fast moving killer spirochetes and then after the ozone treatment, they were either all dead, or very slowly moving. I ordered an ozone water treatment machine and will continue to irrigate my gums with ozone treated water. On a sobering note, the author mentions that, "...once inside the body (spirochetes), they become impossible to treat with modern medicine"...yikes!..I guess the only way to address that is through diet/exercise/positive thinking....the movie "Alien" comes to mind. If you have periodontal disease, read the book and get the treatment. I guarantee it will change (save)your life too.

Dr. Nordquist has solved the question of how periodontal disease is linked to coronary artery disease, and related heart attacks. This book should open a fury of investigation into if and how the spirochetes are related every other chronic disease of mankind.

Prevention of periodontal disease and heart disease must now start in childhood. Until we have a way to kill the spores of spirochetes in vivo, the only defense we have is prevention.

This book is a must read for every clinician involved in treatment of chronic diseases, and every patient who wishes to control their own chronic disease risk.
