Amazingly effective

I was a deeply sceptical user but I did what the cd's told me to do and amazingly I gave up my pack a day habit. I listened to cd1 a week before my quit date. The day before my quit date I was still sceptical but woke up the next day and had NO urge to smoke. Didn't even need the nicotine patches. This is a truly remarkable technique to give up smoking.

Should have come with a manual.

These are the best CD's for what you are looking for. I tried 3 other products and these CD's caused a very serious change in how I related to smoking. I just....didn't feel like smoking anymore and I couldn't put my finger on why (smiles). Now this does not mean that the CD's do all the work. It just means that I didn't feel the urge like I had before. There were still very painless ideas in my brain to smoke. So the pain was gone, the desire seemed to go away, but the conscious choice to quit was still going to be needed if I was to quit.
I also would have needed to keep listening to the CD's instead of stopping.
At the time of purchase, the documentation for these CD's was inadequate. This may have changed since then. I found myself not wanting to smoke....true enough. But I couldn't figure out if I was listening to the right CD or not (there were 3). I stopped using the program after the first disc because I didn't know what to do next or when. Let me say that some of this might have been my own problem of wanting a "best practices" leaflet.

Stop smoking works!

I did as instructed and have not smoked for nearly a month, despite being surrounded by smokers at times. First time with hypnosis and was put off by how active I was mentally, trying to visualize just what the speaker was saying. After 4 - 5 days of the training session (done for the first 7 days to teach you to relax) I figured out not to worry with the visualization, just relax. Worked instantly! Instructions say "Allow yourself 20 - 25 minutes to relax or sleep (when you listen to the sessions). Work on the relaxation and the system will work on you.

Tara Dupuis is 31 years old and the mother of four children. After her second child, she was diagnosed with postpartum depression/anxiety. She found comfort in a non-profit organization, who support women during and after their postpartum experience, called Baby Blues Connection. She recently resigned as a volunteer after 5 years. Tara is a full-time student at Portland State University. She majors in Psychology and will pursue a Masters in Social Work so she can councel people who suffer with anxiety and depression. She is a writer and a public speaker.

About the Author
Ben Logan traveled as a merchant seaman and worked many years as a novelist, producer and writer of films and television, and lecturer while living forty miles north of New York City. His roots remained in the southwestern driftless area of Wisconsin and he returned, in the mid-1980s, to his childhood farm where he has lived ever since.

A Hazy Look Into Our Recent Past

Not long ago, the childhood of Ben Logan was a common experience across our nation. While the particulars differed, most Americans grew up in the countryside growing produce, raising animals, and experiencing the rhythms of the seasons in the place in which they lived. We knew the names of the plants that grew around us. We knew the nooks and crannies of a relatively large expanse of local landscape. And, perhaps most regrettably lost, we knew experientially how things in our portion of the world interacted.

Ben Logan spends little time ruing these losses. Instead, he simply describes the largely pre-mechanized days when he was a boy on a hilltop farm in West-Central Wisconsin. Organized around the seasons and their differing labors. In spring, the preparation of the fields - careful consideration given to needs of the soil. In summer, the long days are spent in long labor - bringing the quick growing hay and carefully tending the slower growing, but cash-providing corn. In fall, the main harvest occurs, both for the money crops and the crops that will sustain the farm through the winter. In winter, the cold and short days are spent maintaining the farm and planning for the next year.

Through it all, Logan depicts not only a lost lifestyle, but a family and a community that are probably not possible in our time. Certainly many care about that same issues that concerned the Logans, but, in many ways, our tangible connection to the issues of, for example, production, self-sufficiency and charity have become less tangible. Though Logan's nostalgia becomes clear through the book, there are few lectures, few explanations of the lessons to be learned. But somehow the fact that something important has been lost in our disconnection from the soil is quite clearly taught. I spent some of my childhood days on a farm, but a very different and much more mechanized place than recounted by Logan. Yet, somehow the places and events of this book felt familiar - I wouldn't be surprised if someone who has never spent time on a farm might feel the same way. A devotional in the vein of The Sand County Almanac, The Land Remembers is time well-preserved.

Heart-warming!

Just ordered another gift copy of The Land Remembers. The author has a special ability to express the sacredness of the the Wisconsin homestead and poignancy of returning to family. A great read that sits at my bedside for those special quiet moments at the end of the day. If you enjoy this book you'll probably also enjoy Eleven Days in August, a memoir about a transplanted Wisconsite who returns each year from New York to join his family at their long-running Italian food concession at the Wisconsin State Fair.

Don't miss this one

This book is a fabulous read if you grew up on a farm or have connections to farming life. It truly shows what rural Wisconsin farm life was like in the 1920s-30s. It is also poignant and filled with laughter. The days may have been filled with hard work, but there was also time to enjoy the beauty of the land and the importance of family.

About the Author
Sof?a L?pez-Ibor has taught music for 29 years. She studied Music Pedagogy in Madrid, Spain and at the Orff Institute in Salzburg, Austria. Dive into the Deep Blue Sea!

This is one of the most beautiful instructional books I have ever read. The author is clearly a person who truly loves children. Through her appreciation for the arts and her understanding of how children learn best she helps bring out the artist in each one of them. Looking at the pictures made me realize how lucky these children are to be with someone who encourages them to express their unique personalities and talents.I am a music teacher, a mother and grandmother and I am very inspired by this work.

In these times of religious intolerance and fanaticism, this book by Kim Michaels is absolutely worth reading.
The book was published in 2005 and I would advise the readers to not be misled by Mr. Rawlknson's opinion. He didn't read one jota of this book.

Excellent book

For those who are ready to hear a different truth, to rise to a new level of understanding about the cause of religious conflict, this is the book that can fulfil it's purpose. Written in a direct and concise style, the teachings in this book reveal the very mechanism in the human psyche that is responsible for the conflicts which have been taking place on this planet for a long time. I found this to be an excellent book and I highly recommend it.

About the Author
Where to Wear is run by three partners. Jill Fairchild launched the first book (New York) in 1999 and founded the company, Gerri Gallagher and Julie Craik joined the company two years later to develop Where to Wear into a global brand. Where to Wear now has three head offices; New York, London and Sydney, Australia. There are currently nine books in the series covering fourteen cities worldwide with more launches planned for 2007.

A fashionista's must-have!

If you love shopping, or if you know someone who does, get this book. It's a great little guide to all THE best shops in London, from designer boutiques, to outlets, department stores, through to groovy little thrift markets.
This has certainly made my retail-therapy sessions a lot easier! The best part is that you can look up a street in the index, and find out all the shops on that street. SUCH a good idea. I looked up King's Road, and found I could buy everything there from a wedding-dress to a used biker jacket. Now, when I marry a Hell's Angel, I'm all set.
It takes all the legwork out of shopping. And the reviews are smart, wittily written, and tell you everything you need to know.
Now you need never be intimidated by snooty shop assistants ever again. When they say bitchy things to you, like, "Does madam need a size larger? Only we don't seem to stock one. Maybe two sewn together?" you can come STRAIGHT back with something like, "This is your third outlet, isn't it? Hmmm. I wonder why they didn't choose you to run the bigger branch..."
A small victory, but it matters.
I've never been prompted to write a review before, but this is such a cool little book. If this doesn't help you look like a supermodel - you need your reading-glasses fixed. (And this book will tell you where to do that, too.)
You can get guides to other shopping paradises, too - from New York, San Fran and Paris. I daren't even look, or I know I'll be blowing my shopping money on plane tickets.

I just didn't use it enough

If your trip to London is purely about shopping, then I would suggest this book. There is sooo much shopping in London, it can get boggling. However, I was there 8 days and that was not even enough time to see the sights I wanted to see, let alone shop. I did minimal shopping while in London because I was just so tired and my feet hurt so bad. I did flip through this book for Camden Town Markets and it had some info (very little) on that. This book is laid out more for if you know the store you want it will tell you where to find it. There is also a smaller section orgainzed by areas of London and what shops you can find there. There are no maps in this book so you'll need your own map if you are not familiar with the area. It also had very small sections on places to eat within the various shopping places. The size is not too large, but not tiny. You can carry it with you but in a larger size purse or bag. I would suggest foregoing this book if the main purpose of your London trip is NOT shopping. Otherwise, go for it!
