CAREGIVING RECORDS: No Tech and High Tech Options

Whether we like it or not, we're moving to a virtual world. Our paper files, transactions, information, and resources are moving online. In fact, there's a movement from individual computer licensed applications (e.g., Microsoft Office) to online applications and data storage (e.g., Google's virtual applications and the cloud).
Being old fashioned, I think about the security risk of moving more of my confidential data online. Despite my concerns, we're rapidly moving toward a virtual world. We can either dig in our heels and resist or go with the flow.
Enter Rebecca Colmer of Eklektika Press, who created MeAndMyCaregivers.com. This website features an online records management system where caregivers can organize their loved ones' (and their own) health/life records.
TheCaregiversVoice.com featured a two-part Ask the Caregivers Voice series in Sept. 2008 on setting up an easy-to-use filing system to keep track of medical records. The two parts described steps to take to setting up a no tech, hybrid, or high tech approach.

The convenience of this virtual record database is that you can keep all your information securely in one place and access it from any computer, even while you're on travel.
For those of you who are not yet convinced Rebecca Colmer has created a spiral-bound Family Caregiver Organizer, part of the Family Caregiver Starter Kit--a one-location resource with comprehensive information about your loved one, for all caregivers to easily refer to one document.
