About the Author
Theodore Shoebat is the son of Walid Shoebat, former PLO member and Muslim Brotherhood activist. At age 16, Ted released his first book, In Satan's Footsteps. He grew up in the US and attended public schools. Because of his conservative and religious upbringing, he often struggled with his teachers and fellow students. He personally witnessed Holocaust denial, anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism in the schools and his defense of Israel and the Jewish people made him a target of ridicule and mockery.

I have never before seen a literal comparison of the experiences of "leaders" of non biblical groups.
I have new insight on how the enemy works. More predictable than I would have thought.
The book should be available through Walid Shoebats website.

Good Read!

This book is well written and thought out. The author shows a common thread between what has been in the past and what is happening in our world today. While a couple of times I would have preferred to have had more information included on a certain subject, at least he gave plenty of footnotes so that i could follow the "rabbit trails" that interested me. This is certainly worth your time if you are interested in such topics.

Fighting with JEB Stuart: Major James Breathed and the Confederate Horse Artillery is the first biography of this important Southern officer, a brave and virtuous warrior who embodied all the qualities that made the Confederate Army one of the finest in history. Breathed s resume of combat mirrors that of General Lee s legendary Army of Northern Virginia. Major Breathed was involved in eighty-six battles, engagements and skirmishes. When the Civil War began, James Breathed was a 21-year-old physician at the beginning of his medical career. A Virginian by birth, and raised on a plantation in Maryland, he cast his lot with the Confederacy in April 1861. By chance, he shared a seat on a train with James Ewell Brown (JEB) Stuart, who encouraged Breathed to join the 1st Virginia Cavalry, a regiment commanded by Stuart. Breathed was then transferred to the newly formed Stuart Horse Artillery. For the doctor-turned-warrior, it was a perfect assignment. Unencumbered by formal military training, Breathed developed his own unique style of command. Relentless in his efforts to defeat the enemy, he exhibited conspicuous gallantry and accomplishments on so many fields that his actions separated him from the pack of other battery commanders inside and outside the cavalry arm. Breathed s handling of horse artillery and accurate fire became recognizable to his enemies. Alexander C. M. Pennington, the leader of a celebrated Union battery of the horse artillery, looked forward to and dreaded his many encounters with Breathed. In the minds of the Confederate veterans who knew him best, Breathed was no less of a legend than artillerist John Pelham. After the war doctor Breathed returned to continue his practice of medicine in Hancock, Maryland. He died February 14, 1870. This study is based upon previously unknown or overlooked family primary documents and archival sources, a keen appreciation of the terrain over which Breathed s guns rolled and fought, and a broad foundation of knowledge of the American Civil War in the Eastern Theater. Fighting With JEB Stuart adds something dramatically new to the literature of the Civil War.

About the Author
David P. Bridges, theologian, historian, biographer, outdoorsman and horseman, began writing about the Civil War period after nearly two decades of serving as an ordained Presbyterian minister. Bridges undergraduate B.S. degree in economics was received from The University of Kentucky. He furthered his academic experience and studied theology and history at the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and The University of Chicago, Divinity School. In order to further enhance his writing he learned to fire cannon and fight as dismounted cavalry so that he could participate in Civil War reenactments with the 2nd Virginia Cavalry & Stuart Horse Artillery, based in Roanoke, Virginia. David resides in Richmond, Virginia, with his faithful birddogs Angel, Bella and Rosey.

Good Book about a Little Known Aspect of the Cavalry

There have been many stories written about the Amcerican Civil War. But I've seen few written about the artillery, and to my knowledge none at all about the Horse Artillery that served with and went with the cavalry. This alone would make this book a welcome addition to a Civil War library.

Wars are fought by young men. Still it is a surprise to read when a 'kid' of only twenty-one becomes an officer, and shortly thereafter is a Major.

Major Breathed was already a physician when he joined the Confederate Army. He served all through the war, not as a physician but as a combat leader. He was in almost all the significant battles in the Eastern Theater. This reports on an aspect of the war that is little known.

The book is extensively researched and well written. It reads well yet is full of detail that fills in the story in a most interesting way.

A legend in his time remembered

From a fortuitous collection of unpublished family scrapbooks, David Bridges has resurrected the life of a man who was an absolute legend in the South during the Civil War. However, Jim Breathed died right after the war and left no memoirs, nor did he write letters. His memory was alive in the minds of those he served with him, but, unfortunately, faded as they passed away.

David Bridges has pulled together, after years of research, a very readable and detailed account of the numerous deeds that made Jim Breathed the most respected commander of horse artillery in the Confederacy during his lifetime. Breathed was there at Manassas and there at Lee's surrender, and at virtually every battle the Army of Northern Virginia fought. Pelham is better known, and was unquestionably "gallant," but Breathed was one of the fiercest fighters the war produced (at least according to Robt. E Lee in a statement made after the war).

This book is a private printing. Get a copy while you can if you want to have an important gap in Civil War history finally filled. Relive Breathed's deeds at Chancellorsville, Brandy Station, Gettysburg, Single-handedly holding up the entire V Union Fifth Corps at the Alsop Farm between the Wilderness and Spotsylvania, Yellow Tavern, Tevellian Station, and engaging in single combat at High Bridge (with both armies looking on) days before Lee surrendered.

It is hoped that Bridges book will serve to place Breathed back in his rightful place in Civil War History

Phenomenal Collection of Engaging Material

As a former student of James', I knew this book would be gold, but it went even above those high expectations. The lessons are engaging and innovative and James' light-hearted style is evident. The book made me smile countless times! Some of my favorite lessons and opportunities for student learning include: Friday the 13th, Cuckoo and Eggs, Loose Teeth, and The Wise Old Owl. A must for any Orff educator!

Best Orff book ever!

I absolutely love this book and absolutely love James, who I took a course with in Salzburg. I teach in Italy and it is a challenge to translate some of the activities while keeping the same rhythmic patterns, but other activities can be used as written; the kids catch on fast and they are so fun it doesn't really matter what language they are in. About the Author
Burton MacDonald is Senior Research Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, NS, Canada. His special interests are the archaeology of Jordan, especially the southern part of the country, within the framework of the prehistory and history of the Ancient Near East and its connection to Old Testament / Hebrew Bible Studies and the Christian Religion. He has conducted archaeological fieldwork in Jordan since 1977 and has been the director of numerous archaeological surveys throughout the region. His latest survey projects include the Tafila-Busayra Archaeological Survey (19992001), the Ayl to Ras an-Naqb Archaeological Survey (2005-2007; currently under preparation for publication), and the Shammakh to Ayl Archaeological Survey (since 2010).

Wonderful and Unique Guide

I'm always accused of reading nerdy stuff and this review won't help that any, but I'm preparing for a trip to Jordan to visit sites of interest to Christians and this book caught my eye. It is an indispensable book for those who wish to visit Christian sites in west Jordan and quite unique.

The author gives detailed information for about a dozen sites of interest to Christians on the eastern side of the Jordan river, from Biblical sites like Bethany Beyond the Jordan to Byzantine sites like Madaba. Many people don't know that this area was heavily Christian up till the Muslim conquest and is still the home of many Christians today.

He illustrates each site with maps, pictures, diagrams, Biblical references, and historical quotes. There is detailed information of what there is to see at each site, explanations of the ruins, and even some GPS coordinates (a helpful addition). He even gives some brief information of how to get to each site.

And the whole book is readable. On page 24 he even has a great diagram of the layout and technical terms of a Byzantine style church, so you know what an "Aspe" is when it is mentioned in a church description. Brilliant!

Let me just say that if you plan to tour any of these sites, you have to have this book.

My only quibble is that I think he should have included Pella (Tabaqat Fahl) in the book. It has a significant place in early Christian history and is smack dab in the middle of the area he covers, even if there is not much to see at the location.

Again, highly recommended!

Great guide book

This is a wonderful guide book on Jordan that incorporates decription of the famous and some of the rarely visit sites. Such material will be a great bonus to anyone who plans an engaging visit to Jordan and absolute must for anyone who is interested in Biblical and Early Christian History of the area. The author combines readable academic articles on the places of interest with traditional format of a thorough guide book. Wonderful presentation! As a regular traveller to Jordan, I hardly can reccomend this book enough.

Key Witch is Wonderful!

It's another adventure in the Keys as three odd sisters look for a missing fourth. In Robert Tacoma's third book in the series he shows himself to be a developing author with a unique style that is immediately loveable and easy to read. Key Witch further explores the oddities that give Key West the nick name Key Weird. With new characters you are sure to fall in love with and some old characters that you love already if you read his first two books, Robert Tacoma creates a world of paranormal comedy and outright hilarious fun. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has read any of the Key books. For those who have not discovered this talented new weaver of tales, you can start with this one but you might enjoy it even more by starting at the beginning.

Since I'm up to date on all Tim Dorsey & Carl Hiassen, I decided to give Robert Tacoma a try. I'm so glad I did! I'm a big fan of Florida fiction - and these books really deliver. So funny! Can't wait for the next book.

Fun reading!

I like these light adventures - no message, no gore. Robert Tacoma knows his South Florida fiction, so you will find references to Hiassen's ex Gov. Skink or maybe a description of Doc Ford's hangout. These novels are not as dark as Randy Wayne White's work, nor as wild and crazy as that of Tim Dorsey, but they are in that league. Personally, I prefer the Key ones to those set in South Texas. Here is my attempt to list them chronologically, which is probably the best order to read the Key ones.

Great for someone who travels.

In the interest of full disclosure, I should mention that I have known and paddled with Lelend and Andria for years, but that aside, I must say that this is a great book for any boater that likes to move around. I moved from Asheville, NC to Northern CA over a year ago and this book was very helpful in getting me oriented to the area. While it is in no way comprehensive, It does give good descriptions of some of the best whitewater opportunities available in each area. Each river covered in the book comes complete with pictures, descriptions of the run and some of the biggest rapids, driving directions, gradient (both average and mile by mile), and flow information. When I moved to Cali, I also ordered the Stanley & Holbeck "Best Whitewater In California" which is great, but is only in black and white, has few pictures, has wonkey flow information, and it has not seen an update since 1988, meaning many of the rapids and roads have changed since then. The River Gypsies Guide is not only more current, but also just a much better format for a guide book (and in my opinion, the format that should be used for all modern guidebooks). I view the two books as supplements to each other. In addition to being great for someone moving to a new area, it is also a great book if you intend to travel. It lets you know where some of the good whitewater is, and it also gives you lots of pictures to get you psyched to go there. I am currently contemplating a trip to the the pacific NW and this book is fantastic for helping to plan. Again, this is not a comprehensive book of rivers in each part of the country, and not intended to give rapid by rapid descriptions of the whole river (something the previous review complained about), but it covers many of the highlights and gives you a good idea of what to expect or what to look forward to. Excellent Multi-Regional WW Book!

If you are living (or spending considerable time) in one area, then this book should be seen as a companion to whatever local guide book(s) exist. However, if you are trying to get a sense for different areas, or to do some paddling or scouting as you travel through North America, then this book is fantastic!

My wife and I purchased a copy while vacationing near Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and we were so glad we did. It was extremely helpful to us for locating area rivers to scout. We weren't paddling, but with this book, we were able to hike and scout 6 rivers/creeks, only one of which we knew about before we came to the area. Although we love American Whitewater (AW), and are both members, their website doesn't allow one to easily locate rivers by area - you kind of have to know the river you are looking for. With this book, we could look at the map for the Southeast section, then look up the rivers that were in the area where we were. Using Pigeon Forge and then Asheville as our home base, we ended up scouting the following rivers:

1. West Prong (Little Pigeon)
2. Little River (Sinks to Elbow)
3. Big Creek
4. Toxaway Creek
5. Horsepasture
6. Green Narrows

The only thing that I found myself really wanting was a small map for each river. There are maps for each region, and some maps for sub-regions, but a small map for each river would be extremely helpful, especially since people using this type of book will often be unfamiliar with area and the surrounding rivers. Other than that, I think it's about perfect! Leland and Andria give some good advice for paddling, traveling, etc. at the start of the book, which is also nice. My suggestion: buy a copy now if you are into paddling and you live in (or plan on traveling in) North America.

The Guide book is good to find were you would like to go in certain states and areas, but is not good at all to find out individual details regarding each specific spot. I would recommend if you were doing a trip across the states but not if you were specific to one area.

Are you new to the field of project management and don't know where to start? If so, this book can really help you. If you are an experienced project manager and have struggled with issues of teamwork and having a successful project launch session, then this book can help you. Or have you been handed a project in disarray that needs major disaster recovery work? Again, this book can help you.

In Cheetah Project Management, the emphasis is on the team: "If the team is aligned on its project priorities, then it will better understand and work towards aligning its actions" notes the author. Using a team-based approach, the author takes the reader step by step through an e-commerce project case study and demonstrates how to build team consensus on customer/stakeholder requirements, who needs to do what and when, individual roles and responsibilities, determining the critical milestones in the project, identifying and assessing risks, and preparing accurate cost estimates including a clear understanding of cash flow needs and level of effort.

Ms. LaBrosse defines Cheetah's Accelerated Project Management as "A process that covers the complete framework for a project team to quickly launch its projects, initiatives and ideas." She then takes you through that framework demonstrating how, in just one day, using the methodology, templates and techniques she provides, a project team can develop a complete project plan covering customer/stakeholder requirements, project scope, project schedules, and project budgets. Building upon the eight components of the accelerated project management (APM) framework, she shows project teams how to:

* Clearly communicate with people on the project team and stakeholders/clients about the project.

* Accurately define the problems the project will help stakeholders/clients solve.

* Specify the requirements of the project in terms of how stakeholders/clients will use the project deliverables.

* Clearly define the end points of the project to rein in costs.

* Create a high performing project team that is aligned on their roles and responsibilities.

* Determine exactly what is needed to get started with the project and what represents completion (and success).

* Create measurements to ensure the project meets stakeholders/clients' acceptance criteria.

* Define reviews and approvals at each stage of the project.

* Assess, quantify, and prevent risks that could derail the Project.

* Define the priorities of the project in terms of cost, schedule, and quality.

* Identify the constraints and conflicts on doing this project.

* Determine the staff and resources required to complete the project.

* Create dependency schedules of the interim deliverables with an easy to visualize graphical mapping technique.

* Use a quick three point estimating technique to calculate budgets associated with work and resources needed to get the job done.

* Adjust the project plan based on issues that arise during the execution of the project.

* Record the lessons learned in a way that can used to improve the next project.

* Identify how to use what has been learned doing this project.

Although Ms. LaBrosse clearly focuses on the project team, she recognizes that individual roles and responsibilities must be well defined and agreed to by team members. She observes, "When everyone is responsible, no one is accountable." A key feature of Cheetah's Accelerated Project Management is single point accountability, meaning that one person is specifically responsible for each interim project deliverable, including risk countermeasures.

One of the clear strengths of this book is that it is reader friendly. It is not loaded down with jargon, nor does it preach its message. Rather, it presents a simple and straightforward methodology and guides the reader through it in a clear and readily understandable manner loaded with lots and lots of examples and clarifications. Simple tools and techniques are presented along with easy to follow templates. In determining risk probability and impact, for example, she employs a "highly scientific technique called the gut-feel index (GFI)".

The eight components of the APM framework are Project Launch, Project Agreement, Teaming Guidelines, Planning (including Risks), Scheduling, Staffing and Budgeting, Project Tracking, and Lessons Learned. Ms. LaBrosse presents and explains these components in a clear and effective manner. Noting that "People can achieve whatever they put their minds to", she provides the means by which a project team, working together, can achieve a highly successful and productive project launch event.

Cheetah Project Management is a must for anyone involved in project management currently, or someone considering PM as a career. In simple, straightforward language it outlines the steps and processes toward formalizing a project agreement.

An easy read that truly impacts all phases of the project manangement cycle. I highly recommend this book!

This book is a great read! It is fast paced and hits on all the major project phases. Each phase is laid out in easy to understand writing with great diagrams and charts. I firmly believe that you can use this book to help all your projects.
