Great Resource. I had never heard of Amazon Astores. The chapter on "Exploring the Social Jungle" and the chapter on "Your Own Website" are a must read for marketing your Amazon business. Astores are apart of the Amazon Associates program and they're free! They are embedded into your current website to help you earn commission on products you may not carry in your own inventory.

I'm really glad he included the chapter on Amazon Fullfillment I do not think many people know about this option yet. He gives full details of the pros and cons of using the program.

I also like how the author answers questions on seller performance and feedback. This section was also very helpful to me. He makes some great points on the pitfalls of selling college textbooks in one of his responses.

When I first saw that Steve Weber had written a book on Amazon retailing, I thought "Selling on Amazon is easy. Why would he write a book about it?" I just finished reading it, and it blew me away. There is so much about selling on Amazon that I didn't know.

Rica Takashima is the future of yuri manga

Recently I attended the latest Yuricon and had quite a blast. But out of all the doujinshi, video episodes, merchandise, and cool people I've enjoyed, one special woman made my day complete.

Her name is Rica Takashima. I've never heard of her before. But I wanted to hear what she had to say, anyone who fancies Yuri deserves my attention. During her Q/As, she mentions her story Rica 'tte Kanji
alot. Looking around, I can see several people were holding a copy and most already own/read it. She mentioned that it was a happy yuri story, and I'm thinking "I gotta read this..."

BTW, I got to meet this legend in the making and took a picture with her ^_^ If you're reading Rica, arigato!

Later on, I wasted no time in getting my copy of Rica 'tte Kanji. Looking at the cover, I can see it was different than most shoujo. Erica Friedman mentioned it's pop art, and I like it. Pop art is really cute, definately an art style I see very few of. Now, the most important thing(besides story) in any manga/anime is the characters. And boy, I fell in love rather quickly! Rica is the main character of the story, who's attending a women's college in Tokyo. Rica starts off with a visit to Nichome(which is basically a gay and lesbian area in Tokyo) to make some friends(and hopefully something more?) Eventually she find a club/bar, and it's adorible seeing her worry over nothing ^_^ Quickly, she's welcomed with friendly and open arms by the attractive bartender Mariko.

Enter Miho-chan. Whom I can relate to. If I were female, I'd be Miho. She's very laid back and super cool. Rica meets her for the first time in the bar and that's where things take off! Quickly, the two become good friends and even spend time together at Rica's home! O_O I know, ALREADY!? But it's funny what happens soon after arrival, silly Miho-chan. Rica was expecting too much on day one LOL

I don't want to get into the rest, as it's only one volume(so far...) and could spoiler alot. But I will say this, Rica 'tte Kanji is one of my top favorite mangas of all time. Why? It's a happy manga. Most of my manga, whether it's yuri or non-yuri aren't happy and have some kind of dispute. Rica 'tte Kanji is a nice look into the positive side of yuri relationships. Yuri relationships usually end up in ruin, and reflects the grim reality of life. Rica 'tteKanji not only makes you forget any angst that might exist in your own life, but it give you a happy feeling. It's an upbeat manga with alot of realistic characters that aren't 1-dimensional. Most of all, the biggest reason I love this great manga is because the relationship Rica and Miho share is like my own relationship. My lover is the happy idealistic type like Rica and I'm like Miho, who's very attracted to that type of person ^_-

Rica 'tte Kanji has joined the list of my favorite mangas along with Fushigi Yuugi, Utena, and the legendary Sailor Moon. Only bad thing about this great title, is one volume. *sob* After reading it all, I felt the need for more Rica, Miho, Mariko and especially Michiru. So much you can do with these fun characters, I hope Takashima-sama will consider giving me and every Rica fan more!

Thank you once again Rica and Erica,for delivering something that I'll treasure my whole life. This is a story about happiness, cuteness, and a lovable relationship that(quote Erica in her Okazu blog...):

"progresses without high drama, angst, self-doubt, obsession over sexuality or roles"

Exactly, Rica delivered something refreshing that'll stand out for many years. Rica-chan and Miho-chan 4-EVER!

The Plot: Rica 'tte Kanji is the story of young college student named Rica who moves to Tokyo to attend a Women's Junior College. She find meets friends, has adventures and falls in love in the Shinjuku Ni-Choume, Tokyo's gay and lesbian district. At a club on her first night in town she meets woman named Miho. The book follows their life and relationship. The author, Rica Takashima, wrote it in response to the overwhelming numbers of lesbian manga which either take place in a sci-fi setting or with a sad ending. She wanted to create a story that reflected a more accurate picture of lesbian life in a real world setting.

I bought Rica 'tte Kanji!? by Rica Takashima at AnimeNEXT 2007. This is a yuri manga meaning that it has lesbian love. I almost didn't buy it because of it's simplistic art style. I'm glad that I changed my mind. This book is one of favorite things that I bought from the convention. It is number two on my top five list.

The story is 85-86 pages long out if the 96 pages there are total. There are some pages at the extra pages at the end are not translated in to English, which sucks because it looks like a gay pride comic short, oh well. Even though the are style looks like a little kid draw it, once you get over that you realize that it's very cute. I want to cuddle Rica so much. She's so adorable with her perma-blush. Heehee. The characters are really likeable too. If there was another manga out ins English staring them, I would buy it without thinking twice. The story is very funny and entertaining. This comic is worth a chance.

Not Usually a Fan of this Genre

I'm not a Yuri fan in particular but I recently picked up Rica'tte Kanji and enjoyed it a lot. It's an upbeat series with likeable characters and I found the very simple art style fun to look at. Although it'd be nice if the series was just a bit longer.

It'd get 5 stars if the Publisher hadn't (annoyingly) left some of the extra end comics at the back of the book untranslated.

About the Author
Dave Ember is an award-winning illustrator and designer who creates images for an international clientele. Clients such as Hewlett-Packard, Playboy, Inc. and The New York Times rely on his bold, graphic style for editorial, corporate and advertising art. He is the illustrator of the best selling book, America's National Parks, A Pop-Up Book. Dave was born in York, PA., and received a BFA from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia in 1982. He has worked for both the Oakland Tribune and San Francisco Examiner newspapers as a staff artist. In 1994 he moved to Bend, Oregon to establish his freelance career. Welcome to Yellowstone

I bought this book because I liked the images I saw previews of because I love nature themed books. The paper used is great and takes several layers of pencils, both wax based and oil based. I haven't used markers or gel pens in it at all because I don't use them that often. The images are printed on one side with a snippet about the park or a quote on the opposing page. There is a good mixture of mandalas, scenery, and animals in the book. I'm looking forward to more in the series of national parks by this artist :)

I'll add completed pictures to my review at a later date. :)

Love this book on Yellowstone!

This book is beautiful from cover to cover. A short history is given on the left side of the page about the illustration to be colored on the right side of the page. The artwork is beautiful, the paper is of excellent quality, a few postcards and bookmarks at the end of the book for coloring. Love the entire format of the book. There is nothing not to like! Look forward to Dave Ember's next adult coloring book! So glad I purchased it. I consider it one of my "high quality/favorite" books.

Superb for adults

I took this book to a spiritual retreat and had a number of other adults asking to borrow my gel pens and start coloring. They loved the designs which still looked like the magnificent landscape and animals but had intricate designs too. Since the retreat, people have asked me how to order this particular book.

About the Author
Author Sy Polsky was born on October 27, 1944 in the United States but later emigrated to Israel in 1982. With both Bachelor and Masters Degrees from Brooklyn College and Syracuse University, he taught in several high schools throughout Brooklyn and Staten Island, in addition to writing four workbooks for students studying English as a foreign language in Israel. "The Immortal" is his first novel.

Sex, Violence and Jewish History! A real page turner!

I read "The Immortal" by Sy Polsky this week. It's a can't-put-it-down page turner. The book details the life of Joseph, a fictional Jewish physician/warrior at Beitar on the 8th of Av, the day before the final defeat of the Bar-Kochba rebellion by the Roman empire. Abandoning his comrades at arms, he deserts the city only to find himself attacked by Romans. Hanging between life and death, a mythical kabbalist offers Joseph the option of immortality -- with a catch. He must accompany the Jewish people into exile and in addition to bearing witness to the 9th of Av tragedies which would afflict the Jewish people for generations, the same day would mark personal calamities in his private life as well.

This 800 page book of historical fiction is a fascinating journey through Jewish life in the Middle East, Arabia, Spain, France, England, Germany and many parts of Europe from 135 c.e. at the fall of Beitar in Israel through the 1600's in the Netherlands. Joseph's travels take him through the ancient library of Alexandria, to the Parthian empire and the city of Nehardea where the Talmud was authored. Joseph meets and debates with the Amoraim; Shmuel, Rava, Rabba, Rav Ashi and Rabina.

It's far from easy for Joseph the Jew -- he doesn't age externally and survives terrible tragedies while witnessing the murder and abuse of his family, generation after generation. He goes off and on "the path" of religious Judaism throughout the entire book.

The historical stories are accurate and colorful,. The book painfully recounts how many times the world has tried to eliminate the Jewish people. One amazing story that stood out in my mind was Joseph's leading one town's Jewish uprising during the Crusades -- one of the only Jewish revolts (if not the only one) recorded in the historical period of the Crusades. While there was no "Joseph" leading the actual revolt, it's historical fact that in 1349 the Jews in Regensburg revolted.

This is not a book for younger readers as there is quite a bit of violence and sex.

The Immortal is only the first book of a trilogy, and I was rather disappointed that I'll have to wait for parts 2 and 3 to be published.

If you want a book to rekindle your fascination with Jewish history this one is it. Just don't plan on getting anything else done while you're reading it.

Essential Jewish History!

If you've ever tried to work your way through serious tomes about Jewish history and couldn't make heads or tails of what the Romans, Byzantines, Mamluks, Franks, Flemish and Arabs, then "The Immortal" is for you. Joseph, the book's hero, is a sort of "wandering Jew" who moves from exile to exile, and through his experiences we get a fascinating, first hand picture of what the Jews have experienced throughout the centuries - for good and for bad.

Joseph has a lot of personal baggage too, and it's fascinating to see how anti-Semitic riots in Babylon, France and England, or the Golden Age in Spain, or even Christopher Columbus' journey affect him personally! This is the ideal history book for people who hate history - the personal story of a man who has seen it all. I don't know if Mr. Polsky is a historian (although he's got all the historical events in the book right) but he sure knows how to tell a story!

A virtual buffet of Victorian Erotica for the novice .....

Although I am not much of a fan of anthologies, since the short excerpts are frustrating, this collection of some great Victorian erotica was fun to read .....

There are 19 books excerpted here with most of the stories running from five to twelve pages, and the book weighs in at 319 pages ... I have read some of the full books in this volume but there were still a couple that I had not seen before.

Most certainly during the Victorian era the sex and erotica was varied, and many of today's taboo's were unknown to a people that had little to occupy their minds and bodies other than enjoy the pleasures of the outdoors, gardens, food and last but not least their libidos. Although erotic spanking and bondage was known to the Victorians we see very little of the violent BDSM in their literature. This is and important distinction since it makes it easy for a 'normal' reader to vicariouosly enjoy the wonderfull mind painting the authors detail.

The book lost one star in this rating since the authors did not provide a bilbliography allowing an easy find of the full novels ......

Great compilation

Sometimes these compilations are a couple of good stories and a bunch of bad ones. This book is an exception, every story in this book is great! Very enjoyable read for those who like Victorian style stories.

Excellent anthology

If you're interested in Victorian erotica then this book is a good starting place. It's somewhat of an unkown world to many people who think sex and erotica are something new and depraved that has only recently come into our lives via MTV and the like. Far from it the Victorians were probably more active in this respect than many people today who spend time watching TV or playing computer games.
But it's only an introduction. If you want to read complete works I recommend The Power of Mesmerism and The Romance of Lust.
