Wasted Money

I was hoping this CD would have a study guide for the Security+ exam. Nope. It's under revision, but they didn't even bother to put the old guide on the CD for reference. At least the old one PROBABLY had some useful information for the test. So why is all the A+ certification info on a Security+ CD? Turns out this CD is the exact same as the StudyExam4Less Discount Coupon CDs for A+ and Network+! All they did was change the label in the CD sleeve! So if you have one of the CDs, you don't need to purchase the others to get your practice tests OR VOUCHERS. Another problem is that the Network+ materials are for the retired 2002 objectives. The new test went into effect May 1, 2005.

Postpartum depression... not something most of us think about unless you are suffering from it or love someone who is. This book is an absolute must read if you are looking for some personal understanding of postpartum depression. Sylvia gives a very forthright and personal description of her battle which makes you feel as though you are walking in her shoes. When you are done reading this very informative and entertaining book (trust me, you will not be able to put it down) you will have the knowledge and insight to be able to either help someone suffering or find help for yourself.

Sylvia Lasalandra's story powerfully illustrates the suffering, stigma and lack of resources available to women struggling with these illnesses. Thankfully, the tide is finally changing, and Sylvia's unrelenting advocacy is one major reason. You will read this book in one sitting as you will not be able to put it down. Wonderful Approach to Saints' Lives

"Stories of the Saints" is a new graphic series by Arcadius Press depicting lives of the saints in richly illustrated panels with fast-moving text. Volume I includes the stories of Saint Patrick, Saint Jerome Emiliani, Saint Joan of Arc, Saint Henry, and Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton. These vibrant stories, which are told utilizing stunning and entertaining imagery, promise to engage readers of all ages through memorable storylines which entertain, educate and inspire.

Each saint story is introduced by a question. For example, the section on Saint Patrick begins by asking, "Would you return to the country where you had been enslaved to tell those who lived there about Christ?" while the section on Saint Joan of Arc inquires
"Do you live a life that encourages others to follow God?" These questions help establish the theme of the saint's life that the story seeks to portray. Another helpful feature is "A Saint's Journey" which is at the end of each section. It provides a chronology of events in the Saint's life as well as the date of canonization.

I shared this book with my children who enjoyed it immensely. I enjoyed it as well. I like that the series, which has three more books yet to be published, tells of both well-known and less familiar saints. This allows for readers who are well-versed in the lives of the saints to still learn something new. While the stories are brief and of necessity, much of the saint's life story must be left out, the writers and editors did a wonderful job of hitting all the crucial elements.

I heartily recommend "Stories of the Saints." With its graphic style, it has the potential to interest some who might not otherwise pick up a book on lives of the saints, while those who already enjoy saints' stories will appreciate the unique approach.

In the psychosocial and moral domains, these terms indicate not only the stability but also the creative nature of traits that tend toward moral and prosocial action and toward psychological and moral growth, a forward-leaning and interconnecting movement of excellence.

The Psychology of Character and Virtue contributes to the renewal of character and virtue theory. As experts in philosophy, ethics, psychology, political theory, and religion, the contributors enact a critical dialogue on the nature, function, and development of the human person, while paying particular attention to the possibility of instilling stable dispositions of moral character. In various ways they all seek to correct partial and excessively negative views on the nature of the human person. They employ Greco-Roman, medieval, modern and contemporary philosophy, Shakespearean drama, the American Founders, and Christian thought in order to make the case that the crux of moral development and education is the integrity of character and the connection of the virtues.

The contributors are Robert Audi, Fred Miller, John Rist, Daniel Robinson, Richard Swinburne, and Charles Taliaferro.

Craig Steven Titus is research professor at the Institute for the Psychological Sciences, as well as lecturer and researcher at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. He is coeditor of The Pinckaers Reader and author of Resilience and the Virtue of Fortitude, both published by CUA Press. He is also editor of the first three volumes in the John Henry Cardinal Newman Lecture Series, titled The Person and the Polis, On Wings of Faith and Reason, and Christianity and the West.

fantastic education resource

I am a student teacher, and bought this book looking for great resources for teaching in the music classroom.
The book is designed to implement some jazz into your classroom, you don't even have to be all that familiar with jazz, it starts at the basics, it teaches you how to teach jazz.
You could use this in primary with some of the games or songs and some of the more advanced stuff would work very well in highschool.
This book is fantastic, I highly recommended it to anyone who is interested in adding some jazz, and improv into your music classroom.

Great educational reference-Orff incorporated

I used this book for Master's project & accompanying website. It is the prequel to All Blues: Jazz for the Orff Ensemble. If you teach elementary music, you must own this & every book that Doug Goodkin has written. He is an expert on Orff-Schulwerk & Jazz, & a phenomenal teacher. I have attended his workshops & he's amazing. Within the book are rhythmic & melodic exercises, lesson plans, & educational/philosophical information on teaching music to children. It is very easy to follow, & makes the "jazz teaching novice" comfortably able to teach jazz to children. A learning experience for both students & teacher. A paragraph review is not enough to do this book justice. Just buy the book!

That's pretty nice. Typical of Doug Goodkin you have to ...

Just started with this but it looks very promising. I teach K-6 and I am using some of the lessons all the down to first grade. That's pretty nice. Typical of Doug Goodkin you have to think about it a little more to get what he is saying but they are usually well conceived lessons and these so far are no different. Book arrived in excellent condition.
