She previously owned and operated a vegan catering business in Brooklyn, New York, and served as Erykah Badu's nutritionist on tour. She is also the author of Get Your Crochet On! Love it!

This book was exactly what I needed!
I am not yet a Vegan - and I was hesitant to become one. Besides the fact that I will miss my favorite foods: cheese, ice cream, milkshakes...I also had reservations about the diet itself. I have seen a quite few Vegans who were malnourished-looking. Without meat or dairy, I thought, of course they are malnourished!
But of course I was wrong. For one thing Sister Afya is herself a Vegan - and she is certainly not malnourished (looking or otherwise). For another, there are plenty of sources of calcium and protein without having to resort to animal flesh and secretions.
